I received the following from Steve Chandler this past week and wanted to share it with you:
In my 17 Lies book I enjoyed writing about one of the finest thinkers of our age: Marilyn vos Savant, the person who has the highest IQ ever measured. She once wrote a weekly magazine column, and I was always intrigued by the simplicity and power of her intelligence. One time a reader wrote to her about the relationship between thinking and feeling:
Dear Marilyn:
What is the difference between thinking and feeling?
Colleen Kelley
Spokane, Washington
Dear Colleen:
Feeling is what you get for thinking the way you do.
Marilyn
The lie I was trying to dramatize is the lie that says our feelings of upset and annoyance are caused by the behavior of others. They are not. And the freedom that comes from seeing that they are not is exciting to experience. Feeling is only and always what I get for thinking the way I do.
The first two lines of the song, “Walk On” by the band, Boston are:
“Take a look around you tell me what you can see. I guess it all depends on exactly what you want it to be”
And while you’re thinking about that, here is a story that I just received from Steve Chandler:
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.
“I love it,” he stated with enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
“Mr. Jones, you haven’t seen the room; just wait.”
“That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” he replied. “Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged, it’s how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.”
And here’s a segment from one of my favorite shows, “The Point” showing Oblio’s and Arrow’s encounter with the Rock Man in the pointless forest:
John Korpi brought this to the Weekly Action Meeting on Thursday, April 23rd. I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to read it, it’s really good! The author is unknown:
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car pulled out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, “Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!” This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, “The Law of the Garbage Truck.”
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they will dump it on you. Don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well and move on. Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so…Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t. Life is 10 percent what you make it and 90 percent how you take it! Have a blessed and garbage-free day.
Wow – last night’s Science of Getting Rich Club was so cool! We have so many different people from so many different backgrounds and all have something valuable to offer.
I have often said that Steven is the magic of this group. Last night was absolutely amazing, and I don’t think Steven got a word in edgewise!
One thing that I love about this group is that everyone checks their ego at the door. They let go of all pretense, get real and lay it all out on the line.
Everything is fair game, we talk about everything – money, family, kids, work, sex, friendship, love, you name it. It’s a great opportunity to get to know people on a deep level.
And, with a room full of comedians, we laugh the bulk of the time! I just can’t think of a better way to spend a Thursday night.
Last night Steven really just introduced a concept and then sat back and watched the group discuss, debate and gain a new perspective on that concept.
Steven brought up the chapter of Wattles’ book that discusses the difference between the competative plane and the creative plane. Since the Science of Getting Rich was written in the early 1900’s, competitive may have meant something a little different than it does now. Today, we’re encouraged to have a healthy competitive spirit, it often drives progress.
However, I think what when Wattles admonished us not to operate from the competitive plane, he meant that we should only engage in win-win situations. If you read the chapter, the examples that he gives demonstrates very clearly that this is the case.
So, the fact that the discussion took on a whole different direction was quite interesting. I enjoyed hearing everyone’s perspectives and examples.
The most valuable thing that I ‘learned’ from everyone and took away from the discussion was this:
The most important thing is to have fun. You’ll perform better when you truly enjoy what you’re doing. The competition is with yourself, to push yourself to new heights. Then, when you’re dealing with the rest of the human race, the important thing is to have fun and make sure that you only engage in win-win situations.
Of course, the fact that the above summary is what I got out of two hours of discussion, could be attributed to the fact that my mother always says, “Above all else, have fun.”
This universe that we live in operates in a very precise order. There are laws that govern how this universe operates. We, as human beings are starting to understand just how precise and far-reaching these laws are. And the more we understand them, the more we can use that understanding to help ourselves and others achieve amazing things in this life.
Wallace D. Wattles, in his book “The Science of Getting Rich” states this, “The ownership of money and property comes as a result of doing things in a certain way; those who do things in this Certain Way, whether on purpose or accidentally, get rich; while those who do not do things in this Certain Way, no matter how hard they work or how able they are, remain poor.” The certain way is by law. Therefore, a fundamental understanding of these natural laws of universe is essential. Here are the laws:
Energy Is
This is the overarching law. Everything in this universe is made up of energy. The lawn chair in the backyard, thoughts, the light from the Sun, everything. And energy cannot be created or destroyed, it just is. With his famous equation E= mc2, Albert Einstein proved that everything in the universe is energy. Both in the physical plane of our reality of matter and the abstract reality of our mind; they are all made of energy. And this concept of universal energy is not a new one. The ancient Chinese called this flow chi and the ancient Hindus called it prana.
Law 1: Perpetual Transmutation
Energy really has only one attribute: the ability to change. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be changed. Ancient dinosaurs ate plants and each other, died off and were buried under tons of earth for many, many years. The energy of their bodies was changed into petroleum. We humans have learned how to pump that petroleum out of the earth, distill it and make it into gasoline (among other things). We pump that gasoline into the tanks of our automobiles and the engine converts the energy of the gasoline into motion that carries us to different places. The law of perpetual transmutation states this very concept; that energy is constantly changing from one form to another. And we can either harness that energy to get things done, or we can let it move on to something else.
Law 2: Polarity
The law of polarity states that everything has its opposite. I like to refer to this law as one of the two “just is” laws. Everything just is. When we accept that everything just is, we can then choose how to look at it, how to perceive it. And the key to remember here is that everything can be perceived in more than one way.
Law 3: Vibration
The law of vibration states that everything vibrates, nothing rests. The only difference is density and amplitude of vibration. Going back to our list above: the lawn chair in the backyard, thoughts, the light from the Sun, everything is in a state of vibration. The law of vibration is the foundation for the law of attraction. A thing of a certain vibrational state will attract other things of the same vibrational state. The biggest mis-perception of the law of attraction is the idea that we attract what we want. What we really attract is what we are.
Law 4: Rhythm
The law of rhythm tells us that there are cycles, or rhythms to everything. The tide, the seasons, the orbit of the planets around the sun, our feelings, lives and health. Everything is in a rhythmic cycle. What I like about this law is that when I’m in a lower emotional state, I know that I will eventually return to a higher emotional state. And I am learning how to appreciate both the highs and the lows. They both have value. If I were in a constant high emotional state, I probably wouldn’t even know it because I wouldn’t have anything to compare it to. Being able to appreciate all aspects of the rhythmic cycles of life has been an important discovery.
Law 5: Relativity
This law is the other “just is” law. Everything just is. And nothing is either high or low, fast or slow, up or down, large or small until it is compared, or related to something else. Everything is relative. Understanding this law has helped me take judgement out of the equation. I observe something, and rather than placing an immediate judgement on the thing observed, I can accept the fact that it just is and respond, rather than react to it. I like to use the phrase, “Hmmm…that’s interesting. I wonder what that means”
Law 6: Cause and Effect
Emerson said that the law of cause and effect was the “law of laws”. Emerson put a great deal of emphasis on this law, and for very good reason. And there are many names for this law; the law of the harvest, what goes around comes around, karma, what you put out comes back, etc. In addition to these other names, Wallace Wattles made this statement, “The law of gratitude is the natural principle that action and reaction are always equal and in opposite directions. The grateful outreaching of your mind in thankful praise to the Supreme is a liberation or expenditure of force; it cannot fail to reach that to which it is addressed, and the reaction is an instantaneous movement towards you.”
Voltaire made a statement (and I’m paraphrasing here) that we invented words like chance, luck and miracle to explain the unknown causes of known effects. But the fact remains that every effect is caused by something and every cause has an effect.
Law 7: Gender
This law tells us that gender manifests in all things as masculine and feminine. Without the dual principle of male and female in all things, there could not be a difference of potential, perpetuation of motion, nor a regeneration. In addition, this law states that all seeds have a gestation or incubation period before they manifest. This means that when a goal is set (and remember that thoughts are spiritual seeds), there is a definite period of time that must elapse before that goal will manifest itself in the physical world.
I was first introduced to these seven levels of awareness while on the Bob Proctor Cruise in October, 2007. Paul Martinelli, a business associate of Bob Proctor’s presented this information to us.
Starting at the lowest level of awareness to the highest, here are brief descriptions of each level:
1-Animal: This level of awareness is the stimulus-response level, also known as the reactionary or the fight, flight or freeze level. There is very little, if any, thought at this level.
2-Mass: At this level, an individual is concerned about what others think about them. And it’s not what others actually think, it is what they think others think. Comments like, “what will the neighbors think”, “what will my parents think” are common questions asked at this level. This is the conforming level of awareness, or the “following the crowd” level. It is where the majority of people live their lives.
3-Aspiration: I like to call this level the “caterpillar” level. Imagine a caterpillar walking along a branch towards a leaf for a little dinner. While the caterpillar is eating the leaf, he says to himself, “I think I’m meant for more than this.” As a person starts to read quality information or listen to others with quality information, like Wallace D. Wattles, Jack Canfield, Michael Beckwith, Bob Proctor, Napoleon Hill and others, that person starts to realize that there is something more that they’re capable of.
4-Individual: After aspiring to something better, this person begins to acknowledge that he is a worthwhile, amazing individual that is capable of amazing things. But this level, by itself, won’t cut it. The individual level is intimately tied to the fifth level.
5-Discipline: This level is absolutely critical to the person who has aspired to break away from the Mass level of awareness. Without disciplining oneself to take action, there will be insufficient force to make that break from the Mass. It’s similar to the gravitational force of a planet, such as earth. Earth has a very large mass and therefore has a very strong gravitational force that keeps things on its surface. In order to break away from the gravitational force of the earth, a rocket has to have tremendous thrust. That thrust is similar to the discipline required for an individual to break away and actually do the things they have aspired to.
6-Experience: As the individual applies the discipline and does those things that will elevate him to new levels, the experience gained will reinforce that person’s awareness of his own abilities. This reinforces the individual and discipline levels of awareness and leads to greater and greater accomplishments. “That which we persist in doing becomes easier to do. Not that the nature of the thing has changed, but that our ability to do has increased.”
7-Mastery: At this level of awareness, there is a higher level of thought. This is where a person will respond instead of react. A person will stop and think; think and act. At this level of awareness, there is a higher level of humor, creativity, enthusiasm, excitement, love and gratitude.
I am grateful to Paul Martinelli for showing this to me and I am grateful to Bob Proctor for sharing it with Paul. Knowing that there are different levels of awareness has been very helpful to me in my quest for personal development.
I received this message and the youtube link from Steve Chandler and wanted to share it with you:
“You don’t feel like using the recession as a kite uses the wind? Watch this video. Watch the young
girls weeping for who they could really be if they woke up.” Steve Chandler.
We’ve all heard of the five senses: hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch. It is with these five senses that we interact and communicate with our environment.
But how many of us have heard of the six faculties of the mind?
Here are the six faculties in order of vibrational frequency:
Will
Memory
Perception
Reason
Intuition
Imagination
The will is the first of these faculties and is at the lowest vibrational frequency. It is first for a very important and significant reason; the will is our ability to choose. It is our ability to focus, to concentrate, to commit to something or someone. Courage, loyalty, discipline and perseverance are all a part of the will. If we didn’t have the will as the first of our mental faculties, we would probably just sit around like a vegetable and do nothing. We use our will to set our direction and determination to do things.
Memory. As human beings, we all have perfect memories! Everything that has ever happened to us, around us or by us is permanently fixed in our memories. We haven’t forgotten anything! We may not have developed the ability to recall all of those memories, but they are there! And we can develop the ability to recall things better, quicker and more reliably by developing our memories. If you haven’t already read it, I recommend “The Memory Book” by Harry Lorayne and Jerry Lucas.
Perception. I mentioned the five senses and stated that it is through our senses that we interact with and communicate with our environment. But do we really see with our eyes? Or do we hear with our ears? The answer is, “no, we don’t”. We see through our eyes and we hear through our ears, but we see with our mind and we hear with our mind. It is our mind that perceives what is seen, heard, felt, tasted or smelled. Two people can be in a room, experiencing the same sensory inputs and describe completely different perceptions of what is going on. And perception uses memory to help it in the very process of perceiving. It has been stated that if we will allow ourselves to add someone else’s perception to our own, we will actually increase our own intelligence. This doesn’t mean that we necessarily agree with the other person’s perception, but that we can see it from their point of view.
Reason. This is the first of our mental faculties that involves the mental activity that we call intelligence. Our ability to reason, to use both inductive and deductive logic, is a very important mental faculty. This is where we “connect the dots” and figure things out. It’s an important aspect of our mental faculties, but it is still on a lower vibrational frequency than the last two of the six mental faculties.
Intuition. This faculty could be described as being very much like the “action at a distance” that is studied in physics. Albert Einstein called action at a distance, “spooky”, where two or more things influence and affect each other at speeds faster than light. Intuition, just like action at a distance, is the interaction of two objects which are separated in space with no known mediator of the interaction. Intuition has to do with pure energy and the perception of that pure energy. The fascinating thing about pure energy is that it never lies; it just is. As we develop our intuitive faculty, we can come closer and closer to the answers we seek. We ALL have an intuitive faculty. And we can ALL develop and increase our ability to use it.
Imagination. Napolean Hill called imagination, “the most marvelous, miraculous, inconceivably powerful force that the world has ever known.”. And Albert Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” We have the ability to think independent of circumstance. At any moment, we can imagine ourselves somewhere else, doing something else. Creativity and vision are both aspects of the imagination.
Each of these six mental faculties is important. No one of them is better than or more important than any of the others. And like all physical faculties, they can be neglected, forgotten and allowed to waste away. Whatever we don’t use, we lose. But the other side of that coin says that each of these mental faculties can be developed, strengthened and improved. Whatever we use, we strengthen. By being aware of these faculties, and by exercising the first one, the will, to get us started, we can raise each of these faculties to higher and higher levels.
Coupling these mental faculties with the physical faculties we possess, we can DO great things in this world!
This week’s Science of Getting Rich Club WAM raised a very thought-provoking question: “How do I create something from nothing?” At first pass, it seems it can’t be done. Isn’t that the realm of magic and illusion? How is it possible to create ANYTHING from “Nothing”?
In the Science of Getting Rich book, it talks about “Thinking Stuff”. Huh?!? It’s only when you dig under the concept of “nothing”, that you start to see the secret behind this “magic”. Wallace Wattles specifically states, “There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates and fills the interspaces of the Universe. A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imagined by the thought.”(Emphasis mine). Further, “You can form things in your thought, and by impressing your thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing you think about to be created.”
So when you think about anyone “creative”, such as artists, architects, etc, this concept starts to become clearer. What they imagine becomes real. It is the true act of creation. But the truth is, we can ALL do it. Steven shared an excerpt from Jim Rohn that illustrates this. He talked about how he used to take his friends on a tour of his house, BEFORE it was built. It was completely real, just hadn’t been “created” yet. And it was humorous to visualize him standing on an “empty” lot, showing his friends around.
Rohn explains the exact process where something becomes nothing:
1 - Ideas & Imagination: (Imagine the Possibilities) This is the beginning, because thoughts are things. Just because the house hadn’t been built yet, didn’t make it any less real, as Jim would take his guests through it, describing the fireplace, the kitchen, and the very real picture window!
2 - Believe what you imagine is possible for YOU: You CAN create. If you think about it, we ALL have practice doing just that!
3 - Go to work and make it real: Time to start making it tangible.
4 - Disciplined activity: If anything truly becomes manifest physically, it takes the discipline to see it through to completion.
So now the question is: What will YOU create? What have you ALREADY CREATED through your ideas and imagination? Are you ready to make it real? Follow these steps, and truly “Create Something From Nothing”.
Thanks to everyone who was there this week, and everyone’s insights. This is but one small example of the valuable information we get every week. One reason I rarely miss a week of our club is the very insightful feedback from everyone. I encourage anyone who resonates with this to join us! What new people will I get to meet NEXT week? You?
